Hamburg Süd said it christened the first Argentine-built ship in its 137-year history on Sunday in Buenos Aires.
The "Monte Alegre", the ninth in a series of 10 container ships of the successful 5,552-TEU "Monte" class.
Following the christening, the 71,270-deadweight-ton ship will be deployed in Hamburg Süd's Europe - South America East Coast Service.
The Monte Alegre, which is 892-feet in length and 131-feet in breadth, has a maximum speed of 23.2 knots.
